Development Effectiveness Review 2009: ADB Scorecard
2 May 2010 (12:15 pm - 1:30 pm)
Did ADB deliver its intended development results, operate more efficiently, and improve its performance in 2009?
ADB uses a scorecard in its results management system to answer these questions. The seminar, with ADB's Managing Director General as moderator, will assess the system and share key findings from the 2009 Development Effectiveness Review.
The seminar examines four questions:
What is ADB's results management system?
ADB adopted the results management system in 2008 to achieve its Strategy 2020 goals. The system relies on the results framework, the Development Effectiveness Review process, and regular management discussions.
What is ADB's results framework?
The framework clarifies ADB's priorities and targets. It uses 70 performance indicators to monitor development in the region, and discern how ADB contributes to this development, how effectively it manages its operations, and how efficiently it manages itself.
How does the Development Effectiveness Review process work?
The Development Effectiveness Review uses the results framework to assess ADB's performance. The review draws on Management and senior-staff forums that assess performance, discuss issues, and identify steps for improvement. It guides Management in steering ADB toward its Strategy 2020 goals.
How did ADB perform in 2009?
ADB's third Development Effectiveness Review records gains and performance weaknesses. The review highlights Management actions in resolving performance constraints.
The session will be moderated by Rajat M. Nag, Managing Director General, Asian Development Bank, and invited panel members will contribute their views.
