Sustainable Food Fortification in Central Asia and Mongolia

The regional project on Improving Nutrition for Poor Mothers and Children in Central Asia is being implemented in six countries: Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Mongolia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.

It aims at fortifying salt with iodine and fortifying wheat flour with vitamins and minerals. Funds are provided by the Japan Fund for Poverty Reduction.

The project is implemented by Asian Development Bank (ADB), United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), Kazakh Academy of Nutrition (KAN) and by the national Governments, non-governmental organizations, and private industries.
