Orientation Program for DMC Officials
4-22 September 2006
ADB Headquarters, Manila, Philippines

Background

The 2006 Orientation Program for DMC Officials was held at the ADB Headquarters in Manila from 4-22 September 2006. This Program was initiated in 1997 and was the tenth Orientation Program in this series. The 2006 Program involved 35 participants with each participant representing their developing member country (DMC).

Program Highlights

  • The program was inaugurated by the Vice President (Operations 2) on 4 September.
  • Over 50 resource speakers from various Departments/Offices of ADB attended the sessions, including a guest lecturer from the Asian Institute of Management.
  • The DMC Community of Practice Discussion Board was introduced as a new communication venue and participants were given an online demo.
  • During the course of their stay in Manila, the participants met with ADB staff individually and in regional groups to increase the level of interaction in clarifying issues concerning the processing and implementation of projects in their countries. This is also to strengthen the relations between DMC agencies and ADB.
  • Participants made field visits to different project sites and partner agencies in Manila.
  • The Program was closed by Vice-President, Finance & Administration on 22 September.
